Puppy classes for socialising and basic manners classes with puppy training from age ten weeks up to approximately 6 months old are on Saturdays at 09:00. (Times to be confirmed prior to the beginning of the course).
Then classes for older dogs from 5 to 6 months up will be confirmed prior to the start of the course but usually straight after the puppies.
For older dogs, there is basic training in obedience and manners and socialising with other dogs and people. Each class is one hour long.
What the dogs will be taught
Puppies benefit from these classes as it gives them the opportunity to learn good manners, as well as increase their chances to thrive in human households settling into your routine.
During the puppy classes, they get used to many different things which they will encounter during their lifetime with you (eg. Car rides, meeting different people, going to new places, meeting other dogs, hearing and seeing different sights and sounds, being handled, visiting the vet and broadening their sense of smell and lots more).
Training builds their self-confidence & contributes to their general well-being and confidence.
Learning basic manners, focus, name recognition, recall, not to snatch or mouth humans, lead and harness acceptance, walking on a loose lead, not jumping up on people, how to behave meeting other dogs and people of all sizes, retrieving articles, finding “treasures” which is the beginning of nosework. The list is endless and lessons are taught using yummy treats, toys and games. Positive reinforcement can enhance so many behaviours and encourage your puppy or adult dog to want to be with you as you are such fun. For example, having a reliable recall. This is one of the most important behaviours to teach so that whenever you call your puppy or dog to you he/she comes without question! This can save his/her life especially if you live near a main road and your dog likes to run outside to see what is happening at the neighbours.
